I remember the night.
The stars were furious. I still feel the tremors. See the wave as it thunders into the shore. Then others come and we run. The waters take them. When the land finally rests I am afraid, because it should have ended there.
Now our sky shivers and stars, relentlessly, fall. I will not sleep because I wait for the land to wake once more and the sea to rise. It never does. And even so I can’t stop running. I am alone and there are creatures in the trees that watch me.
I know I’ll survive.
But things have changed.
