The darkness that fell when the night covered the earth like a shroud was overpowering. Most equines that were not used to the night would not have been able to see a tree only a foot in front of their face, but not this mare, oh no she reveled in this type of darkness and she could see almost perfectly. Takhi now understood why this forest was sometimes called the dark forest by some horses, she had always wondered if it was as terribly dark and scary as horses made it out to be, well it sure was dark. Takhi did not see much that should scare her, but then again after all the things she had seen in her life she was not scared easily, this place seemed perfectly safe to her. The only thing that might be a problem to her would be the trees that grew close together tearing the feathers of her ebony wings, but she kept them tucked tightly to her side, and made it so there was no way they could be scratched.
The darkness that surrounded her seemed to part as she walked through it's cloud, like it was not willing to touch a being as cold as her, as if it was scared. The only thing that dared to travel with her was the cold pitch black shadows that the mare could slither into unseen with her ebony coat, they were one of the same, two cold things moving as one barely seen. The darkness that parted behind her followed her perfect form like a sad lost puppy, trying to learn her secrets, trying to learn how she stayed so cold. But Takhi was not one to share her past memories, they brought on to much pain, so the darkness would have to keep waiting for a more open femme. The mare kept her etched body moving forward, slithering along with the shadows, twisting around the trees that grew so tightly together only a small equine like herself to manage to move through the forest.
As the mare kept her steady and graceful pace of a walk she heard the beating of small wings and a dark, cold, smile twisted upon her night black lips. One of the only creatures that dared to cross her path was coming her way, and she craved the company that it would bring, soon Takhi saw the form of a light grey sparrow soaring her way. The way the sparrow flew made her wish that she could fly in the open sky again, but she could not, it would soon be daytime and oh how she hated the sun. The sunlight made everything seem just so happy, which was the exact opposite of how the femme felt throughout her life, she did not like how it made everything shine and glimmer in utter happiness. It made Takhi sick. The little grey bird flew above the mares spiraled black horn and landed in the space between her two delicate ears. It settled down comfortable into her forlock and then sat there quite and content. The mare was happy when she knew that the little sparrow was going to stay a while.
Sparrows showed Takhi the happiness and kindness she wished that she possessed. Sparrows were always happy and singing and they did not attack other animals unless it was entirely needed. Takhi was not happy, she was most possibly the coldest horse that ever roamed the earth that she graced, and she was definitely not kind. She usually would attack any horse that she came across that was kind to her in anyway, because she thought that it was just a ploy and they would just hurt her mentally or physically, so she would usually attack them to make them leave her alone and not give them a chance to scar her. But some times, the kindness that hid very deep down inside Takhi's consciousness would show it's face and protect the pore equine that the mare chose to unleash her wrath on, and the horse would get to live. All of this anger and coldness was spurred from the fact that her mother left her as a baby, and she never knew her father, all of her evilness came from that. The image of her mother's rump sneaking away in the night was burned into the mare's mind forever. So, now she was cold, colder than a winter rain, and more vicious than a carnivore. But that kindness still slept in the back of the mare's mind, hid deep down inside her consciousness, and who knows. Maybe one day that kindness will allow her to one day get close to another horse, and maybe then she will finally be able to live a happy life, but it would take a lot of nerve from whichever horse wanted to become close to her. Takhi believed that no horse would waste their time trying to fix her, just to get to know her, was she really that great?
